PROJECT SUMMARY 

Steel Rule Die Installation Jack

GOAL:

          Improve safety of steel rule die installation.
          Decrease die change over time.
          Eliminate maintenance on existing jack mechanism.
          Final device must be easily handled by 1 man.

STARTING POINT:

          Existing operation used manual mechanical scissors jacks.
          Customer open to any new ideas.

          Very simple prototype built to test concept.

·        Used plywood parts to mock up structure.

·        Used un-mounted pneumatic controls to save time and money. 

·        Used garden tractor inner tubes to inexpensively test concept.   

FINAL DEVICE FEATURES:

• Strong light weight Al structure.

• Zero maintenance Firestone Air Stroke actuators.

• All controls on remote pendant for operator safety and convenience.

• All pressures and speeds preset to ensure operator safety.
